Our Parish

Divine Mercy Catholic Parish is located in north central Iowa in the Diocese of Sioux City. It serves the area and people of parishes in Kossuth County, and parts of Palo Alto (West Bend) and Humboldt Counties.

Within its boundaries are over 5000 Catholics, seven churches, eight cemeteries, our Bishop Garrigan PreK-12th grade school system, and a popular pilgrimage destination, Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption.

The Church promotes education as a critical part of her mission because access to education is a fundamental human right. Catholic education seeks to form the whole person, in mind, body, and soul. Above all else, it means forming baptized Christians to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

For this purpose, the parish proudly supports Bishop Garrigan Catholic Schools to educate children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. We are proud to say that the bulk of tuition costs are paid by member parishes, through the contributions of their parishioners. In addition, there are multiple diocese tuition grants available.

Students at Bishop Garrigan attend weekly mass at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. At times throughout the school year, they also celebrate mass and attend retreats at various churches throughout the parish.
