Walk and Pray

Walk and Pray

Students in grades K-6th participated in a new fundraiser called Walk and Pray. This new event was designed as an upbeat walkathon based on prayer and special intentions.

The students raised money by finding donation sponsors.  On top of raising money the students also gathered prayer intentions. The goal of the event was to raise $50 per student and $10,000 for the school. The Bishop Garrigan students knocked that goal out of the park by raising over $14,500

On this beautiful Friday morning, groups of students gathered at the Bishop Garrigan track for the event. We started with an opening prayer by Father Matthew. Then everyone walked in silent prayer. The purpose of the silent prayer was to pray for all of the intentions received. After the silent prayer it was party time! There was line dancing, singing and lots of laughing! Students in grades K-6 earned a t-shirt for the event to wear. Thank you to the local farmers for their donations to cover the cost of the t-shirts. Our farmers received a special prayer as well as they continue through harvest time.

The track was filled with students, teachers, clergy, parents and grandparents. It was a morning spent in prayer and worship with our BG family.

Opening Prayer
We give you thanks, O Lord, for the fruits that earth has given to benefit the human family. We pray that, as the working of your supreme providence has produced them, so you may cause the seed of justice and fruits of charity to spring up in our hearts.

May your hand protect and guide all who labor to bring forth food from the earth.

Make your voice heard and your good will known to the families of Bishop Garrigan so that our children may have witnesses to your gospel and be captivated by your love to follow you as disciples.

Graciously receive the prayers of your people gathered here which they have offered for themselves and for others.  Answer them so that every human person may be brought to perfection and every division may be removed.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Amen
