Christy Peterson as Future President of Bishop Garrigan Schools

It is with great pleasure we announce that Christy Peterson has been offered and accepted the new role as President of Bishop Garrigan Schools. She will transition to this new role as of July 1, 2023.

Christy has been a long standing figure of Bishop Garrigan Schools as a graduate of the BGHS Class of 1995, previous elementary teacher at Seton Elementary, and currently the 3rd-12th grade principal at Garrigan. Christy also has the role as a Bishop Garrigan parent of 2 daughters, Molly in 10th grade and Jenna in 7th grade. Her dedication to Garrigan has been demonstrated repeatedly through her leadership and implementation of new programs and initiatives.

Christy received her Bachelor of Science degree at Iowa State University. She continued her education receiving a Masters in Education from Viterbo University followed by her endorsement in Principal Leadership from Morningside University. She has previously taught for Des Moines Public Schools and Cedar Fall Community Schools. She has been employed at BGS since 2011.

Lynn Miller is the current president and announced his retirement plans earlier this year. Miller stated, "I am very excited to hand over the reins to the next president of Bishop Garrigan Schools. I know with her expertise, work ethic and passion Christy will continue the tradition and expand our Bishop Garrigan vision."

Please join us in congratulating Christy on this new role. We look forward to a bright future at Bishop Garrigan as we continue a long standing tradition of outstanding leadership.

"I am excited to lead Bishop Garrigan Schools into the future. I will build on the traditions within our system while continuing to look for ways to advance the opportunities for our students and families."
